We can help. We offer free blood pressure checks to anyone who wishes to have one, and we encourage anyone over 40 to get their blood pressure checked regularly. Your blood pressure could be raised for many reasons, including stress, diet, lifestyle, and genetics. You are more at risk of having high blood pressure if you eat a high-salt diet, are overweight, drink alcohol, smoke, or are over 65. Often, high blood pressure will have no symptoms. Sometimes, if you have had high blood pressure for a while, you may get some symptoms such as headaches, nosebleeds, and visual disturbances. 

What happens if my blood pressure is high? We can advise on the next steps in store depending on your readings. We usually recommend some sort of longer-term monitoring such as the 24-hour monitor that we can fit in the pharmacy. This allows us to get more accurate averages of your blood pressure when you are doing your normal day-to-day activities. If you are started on medication for high blood pressure by your GP, we are happy to discuss this with you and answer any questions you may have.

Another service that we are offering is cholesterol measurements. This service is free and will help us more accurately assess your heart health when used alongside the blood pressure service. We are excited to be offering this service as it brings us closer to being able to provide full health checks, without the need for a GP appointment.
